How many taxis do you need?

There is no formula that turns a number of taxis into a guaranteed result. There is a minimum for each format, and a handful of practical questions that decide how far beyond it a campaign should go.

Start from the minimum for your format.

A full wrap can start with a single taxi. Supersides start at ten taxis, because the format is designed to repeat the same message across several vehicles at once. Every campaign runs for at least four weeks.

Above the minimum, fleets of either format are quoted per campaign rather than worked out from the entry price. Supersides entry prices are already the total for all ten taxis, not a per-taxi rate.

What decides the number.

  • Objective. A single striking vehicle and a message repeated across London are different aims, and they lead to different fleets.
  • Format. A full wrap makes each taxi a complete statement; Supersides build presence through numbers, from ten upwards.
  • Budget. The entry prices set the floor for each format and vehicle. Beyond that, we quote the fleet that fits.
  • Duration. Four weeks is the minimum. A longer campaign is a different choice from a larger one, and both are planned to your brief.
  • Visual presence. How visible the brand needs to be across the city, rather than on one striking vehicle.
  • Event or sustained presence. Activity around one date or launch suggests a different shape of campaign from steady presence across the whole period.
  • Geographical emphasis. The network of 3,000+ licensed taxis is concentrated throughout Zones 1 and 2. If one area matters most, say so in the brief; taxis travel with their journeys and are not assigned to one district.

What a fleet size does not promise.

We do not publish reach or impression figures, and we do not claim that a given number of taxis produces a given result. Taxis are working vehicles, so where they go is not guaranteed, and no number of them guarantees coverage of a particular street or district.

What a larger fleet does is put more vehicles carrying your brand on London’s streets at the same time. Whether that is the right trade against budget is part of the recommendation.

Getting a recommendation.

Tell us the objective, timing and budget in your brief, and whether a particular area or date matters. We recommend format, vehicle, scale and timing in a clear proposal, and the proposal confirms every cost before anything is booked. Plan a campaign.

Share your objective, timing and budget. We respond within one working day with a recommendation on format, vehicle and fleet size.
