How to plan a London taxi campaign

A London taxi campaign comes down to a short sequence of decisions, then a production process we run for you. This is the order they happen in, and what to think about at each one.

Define the brief.

Start with what the campaign needs to do, when it needs to happen and roughly what it can spend. A launch, a sustained brand presence and an event moment lead to different plans. If an area of London or a date matters, say so. You don’t need every answer yet: the brief can be short.

Choose the format.

A full wrap puts your artwork across the main exterior body of the taxi, from one vehicle upwards. Supersides run large panels on both sides of at least ten taxis, repeating the same message across the fleet. Read Full Wrap or Supersides? if you are weighing them up.

Choose the vehicle.

Both formats run on the Classic TX4, the traditional London black cab, and the Electric LEVC, the newer electric taxi with greater physical presence. The choice is about character and budget; see Classic TX4 or Electric LEVC?

Decide the fleet size.

Full wraps start from one taxi and Supersides from ten; entry prices start at £3,750 and £4,750 respectively. Beyond the minimum, the right number depends on the objective, the budget and how much presence the campaign needs. See how many taxis do you need? and taxi advertising costs.

Agree the timing.

Campaigns run for a minimum of four weeks; longer campaigns are planned to your brief. We recommend format, vehicle, scale and timing in a clear proposal, and the proposal confirms every cost before anything is booked. Taxis, formats and dates are subject to availability, so brief early if a date is fixed: taxi advertising lead times explains why.

Prepare the artwork.

Artwork is prepared to the vehicle-specific specification for your campaign, for the exterior and for the tip seats inside. We coordinate artwork templates, proofs and print. More in preparing artwork for a taxi campaign.

Approve the proofs.

Proofs are checked before anything is printed. Agree in advance who on your side signs off, and keep the number of rounds small: the fewer rounds of approval, the sooner production can start.

Production and installation.

Once artwork is approved we coordinate printing, then install the wrap or panels and the tip seats on every vehicle in the campaign. Production, printing and installation are all included in the published price, and tip-seat advertising is included at no additional media charge.

Launch.

We manage launch day and the campaign runs for the agreed period. Removal is not included: creative normally stays in place until the next advertiser is installed, which may give additional overshow, though that is not guaranteed.

Photography and reporting.

Standard launch photography is included: your taxis photographed on London’s streets, for your own channels. At the close, the team that planned the campaign sends a post-campaign report. You deal with the same people from first brief to final report.

Start with step one.

Send your brief, however rough. We respond within one working day with a recommendation on format, vehicle, scale and timing.
