The London taxi advertising guide

Everything a first-time advertiser needs to know about running a campaign on London’s taxis: the formats and vehicles, how long a campaign runs, where prices start, what is included and how a campaign is delivered.

What London taxi advertising is.

London taxi advertising puts a brand on licensed London taxis: on the outside of the vehicle, and inside on the fold-down tip seats. Because the taxis are working vehicles, the campaign travels through the city with them rather than standing at a single site.

London Taxi Media provides access to a network of 3,000+ licensed London taxis, concentrated throughout Zones 1 and 2 and driven by licensed green-badge drivers. For each campaign we select the vehicles and manage delivery end to end. For the case for taxi advertising in an outdoor plan, see why use black cab advertising.

Two formats: Full Wrap and Supersides.

A full wrap covers the main exterior body of the taxi in your artwork: the highest-impact way to put a brand on London’s streets, available from a single taxi. Supersides are large advertising panels on both sides of the taxi, run across at least ten vehicles at once so the same message appears again and again.

The formats overview compares them side by side, and Full Wrap or Supersides? helps you decide. Each has its own page: full-wrap advertising and superside advertising.

Two vehicles: the Classic TX4 and the Electric LEVC.

Both formats run on either vehicle. The Classic TX4 is the traditional London black cab: instantly recognisable and heritage-led. The Electric LEVC is the newer electric London taxi: slightly larger and contemporary, with greater physical presence and a modern fleet association.

Neither is better in general, and prices differ by vehicle. See Classic TX4 or Electric LEVC?

Campaigns run for four weeks or more.

The minimum campaign is four weeks. Longer campaigns are planned to your brief.

Removal is not included: campaign creative normally remains in place until the next advertiser is installed, which may provide additional overshow at no extra charge. Overshow is not guaranteed, and the contracted campaign remains four weeks.

Where prices start.

Full wraps start at £3,750 for one Classic TX4 taxi over four weeks. Supersides start at £4,750 for the ten-taxi minimum: that figure is the total for all ten taxis, not a per-taxi rate. Prices exclude VAT.

For every price, what is included and how overshow works, see taxi advertising costs.

Tip seats, inside the cab.

Every standard campaign carries your message inside the cab too: advertising on the fold-down tip seats inside the taxi, included with standard Full Wrap and Supersides campaigns at no additional media charge. More on how tip-seat advertising works.

How a campaign is delivered.

One team plans, produces, launches and reports on your campaign, so you always know who to call. The steps below run from your first brief to the final report; how to plan a London taxi campaign walks through the decisions in more detail.

  1. Brief and plan

We respond within one working day, then recommend format, vehicle, scale and timing in a clear proposal.

  2. Vehicle selection

We select Classic TX4 or Electric LEVC taxis from the network to suit the campaign.

  3. Production

We coordinate artwork templates, proofs and print.

  4. Installation

We handle installation on every vehicle, tip seats included.

  5. Launch and photography

We manage launch day and capture professional photography for your channels.

  6. Reporting

A campaign report at the close, from the same team that planned it.

Launch photography and reporting.

Standard launch photography is included: your taxis photographed on London’s streets at launch, for your own channels. At the close, the team that planned the campaign sends a post-campaign report.

How to enquire.

Send a brief through Plan a Campaign, or contact us directly. We respond within one working day, then recommend format, vehicle, scale and timing in a clear proposal. Your proposal confirms every cost before anything is booked.
